Starting the year as the PYP Coordinator, in the candidate phase, I was super excited about curriculum development and supervising Classroom Assistants, as an extra bonus. With stars in my eyes, the Principal and I co-planned the in-service professional learning for our school's 52 person teaching staff. The in-service went really well, the teachers were excited about bringing in the PYP, the new teachers stated to assimilate and adjust, then we anticipated the arrival of students.....
School change does not need a five year plan. Schools need a leader with a clear motivating vision and a leader who empowers many people to turn the vision into action. This year of my professional life has been a case-study in how educational change can begin.
